When Bridget Jones went away for the weekend with Daniel Cleaver, we all realised that a mini getaway can be significant step in a relationship. Oh, the excitement! But after the wonderful feeling of booking a short holiday, we often face the daunting task of deciding what clothes to pack.
No matter where you’re going for that weekend getaway, a carry-on is the ideal size for your clothes. Be prepared for unpredictable weather and take some stylish pieces with you.
EW has put together a stylish but essential survival kit for a 3-day trip during the spring (no, not a beach or extreme sports holiday). These basic pieces can be combined with seasonal trendy accessories.
- 1 pair of black /navy blue or any shade of trousers – we suggest slim fits or straight cuts that be combined with a dress or longer knitwear.
- 1 pair of jeans – need we say more?
- 1 dress – we recommend knee-length but this also depends on your body shape. If you have a comfortable, stretch LBD, be sure to pack it. An elegant cocktail dress may not be suitable, and it can get wrinkled in your suitcase.
- 1 skirt – this can be tricky as it will depend on the weather at your location. You may also need something to keep your legs warm (leggings, please, not tights!).
- Scarf – take a bright-coloured scarf (a la Bridget Jones travelling in a Cabriolet) to give your outfits a fresh look. It’s not only fashionable but practical if the weather turns cold.
- 4-5 tops or T-shirts – choose material that doesn’t get wrinkled easily since you’ll be putting them in your suitcase.
- 2 cardigans or sweaters – these should be two different colours so you can combine them with your tops.
- 1 coat – denim or leather jackets are ideal. If the weather is cold, a trench coat is a must-have on your trip.
- 1 hat – Spring sun can also cause damage to your skin. A hat offers great protection and its’s super stylish, giving you a unique look.
- 2 pairs of shoes – Take flat sneakers (either stylish or more casual ones) and comfortable flats (shiny ballerinas, loafers or Oxford shoes) on your trip.
- 1 umbrella
- 2 handbags and some bright, trendy accessories
Don’t forget to leave a small space in your luggage for shopping while you’re away!
